To be able to count on positive opinions, the guests' stay must be undisturbed, in a pleasant atmosphere, and the hotel must fulfill a number of factors included in the reservation, such as punctuality of meals served or unwritten but obvious factors such as friendly, professional service or excellent room cleanliness. In the era of colorful advertisements and edited photos in catalogues, unfortunately the actual situation sometimes differs from what was promised by a beautiful advertisement.

In Poland, a 5-star hotel categorization system using stars was introduced by the Tourist Services Act of 1997. Stars are a quality rating and indicate the standard of hotels. However, we must remember that in practice the star rating system differs from country to country - for example, a 5-star hotel in Egypt may even correspond to European three stars, e.g. in large cities in Italy.
